When Athaliah heard the sound of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people in the house of the Lord.

Treason!' 15 Jehoiada the priest ordered the commanders of hundreds, the officers of the army, 'Take her outside the ranks, and whoever follows her, put them to death by the sword.' For the priest had said, 'She must not be killed in the temple of the LORD.' 16 So they seized her, and she was taken by the way of the horse's entrance to the palace, and there she was put to death.
