Then Abraham answered, 'I have ventured to speak to the Lord, though I am but dust and ashes.

32Finally, he said, 'May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if ten are found there?' He answered, 'For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.'
33When the LORD had finished speaking with Abraham, He departed, and Abraham returned to his place.
20Then the LORD said, 'The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and their sin is very grave.
21'I will go down now and see if what they have done matches the outcry that has come to Me. If not, I will know.'
22The men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the LORD.
23Then Abraham approached Him and said, 'Will You sweep away the righteous with the wicked?'
24'Suppose there are fifty righteous people within the city. Will You really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous who are there?'
25'Far be it from You to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from You! Will not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?'
26The LORD replied, 'If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the entire place for their sake.'
6Therefore, I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.
16When the men got up to leave, they looked down toward Sodom, and Abraham walked with them to see them off.
17Then the LORD said, 'Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?'
3Abram fell facedown, and God spoke with him, saying,
27Early the next morning, Abraham got up and returned to the place where he had stood before the LORD.
28He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah and the entire plain, and he saw that smoke was rising from the land like smoke from a furnace.
2Looking up, he saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he ran from the entrance of the tent to meet them and bowed down to the ground.
3He said, 'My Lord, if I have found favor in Your sight, please do not pass by Your servant.'
22But Abram said to the king of Sodom, 'I have raised my hand to the LORD, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth,
23'that I will not take a thread or a sandal strap or anything that belongs to you, lest you should say, “I have made Abram rich.”'
14Ephron answered Abraham,
21He said to him, "Very well, I will grant this request too; I will not overthrow the town you speak of.
5The Hittites replied to Abraham,
34So he said, "I am Abraham’s servant.
11But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven, 'Abraham! Abraham!' And he replied, 'Here I am.'
18But Lot said to them, "No, my lords, please!"
19"Your servant has found favor in your eyes, and you have shown great kindness to me by sparing my life. But I can’t flee to the mountains; this disaster will overtake me, and I’ll die.
2Abram said, "Lord GOD, what will You give me, since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?"
12Then Abraham bowed down before the people of the land.
1After these events, God tested Abraham and said to him, 'Abraham!' And he replied, 'Here I am.'
7Abraham rose and bowed down before the people of the land, the Hittites.
8He said to them, “If you are willing to let me bury my dead out of my sight, listen to me and plead with Ephron son of Zohar on my behalf.
3Then Job answered the LORD and said:
10And Abimelech asked Abraham, 'What was your reason for doing this?'
11Abraham replied, 'I thought, Surely there is no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife.'
18And Abraham said to God, "If only Ishmael might live under Your blessing!"
24Abraham said, 'I swear it.'
19He has cast me into the mud, and I am reduced to dust and ashes.
14How then can I answer Him? I would choose my words carefully in His presence.
13Then the LORD said to Abraham, 'Why did Sarah laugh, saying, “Can I really bear a child when I am old?”'
