27At sunset, Joshua ordered them to be taken down from the trees and thrown into the cave where they had hidden. Large stones were placed over the opening of the cave, which remain there to this day.
28That same day, Joshua captured Makkedah and put it to the sword, along with its king. He completely destroyed everyone in it, leaving no survivors. He treated the king of Makkedah as he had treated the king of Jericho.
