- Luke 23:45 : 45 The sun was darkened, and the curtain of the temple was torn in two.
- Heb 4:14-16 : 14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens—Jesus, the Son of God—let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are—yet without sin. 16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
- Heb 6:19 : 19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,
- Heb 9:3-9 : 3 Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place. 4 It had the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered with gold on all sides. Inside the ark were a golden jar containing the manna, Aaron's staff that had budded, and the tablets of the covenant. 5 Above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. But we cannot now speak about these things in detail. 6 When these things were arranged this way, the priests would regularly enter the first room of the tabernacle to perform their ministry. 7 But only the high priest entered the second room, and only once a year, never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance. 8 By this, the Holy Spirit was showing that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still standing. 9 This is a symbol for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered cannot perfect the worshiper in conscience. 10 They are only regulations concerning food and drink and various ceremonial washings, external ordinances imposed until the time of reformation. 11 But Christ came as the high priest of the good things that are to come. He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. 12 He did not enter by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood. He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
- Heb 10:19-23 : 19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, His body, 21 and since we have a great high priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold firmly to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
- Exod 26:31-34 : 31 You shall make a veil of blue, purple, and crimson yarn, and of finely twisted linen, with cherubim skillfully woven into it by a craftsman. 32 You shall hang it upon four pillars of acacia wood overlaid with gold, with gold hooks, set on four silver bases. 33 You shall hang the veil under the clasps and bring the Ark of the Testimony inside the veil, and the veil shall separate the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place for you. 34 You shall place the mercy seat on the Ark of the Testimony in the Most Holy Place.
- Exod 40:20-21 : 20 He took the testimony and placed it in the ark, inserted the poles into the ark, and set the atonement cover on top of the ark. 21 Then he brought the ark into the Tabernacle, hung the veil as a partition, and shielded the ark of the testimony, as the Lord had commanded Moses.
- Lev 16:2-9 : 2 The LORD said to Moses, "Tell your brother Aaron that he must not come at any time into the Most Holy Place behind the curtain, in front of the atonement cover on the ark, or he will die, because I appear in the cloud above the atonement cover. 3 Aaron is to enter the Most Holy Place in this way: with a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering. 4 He must put on a sacred linen tunic, with linen undergarments next to his body; he is to tie a linen sash around him and put on the linen turban. These are sacred garments; so he must bathe himself with water before he puts them on. 5 From the Israelite community he is to take two male goats for a sin offering and one ram for a burnt offering. 6 Aaron is to offer the bull for his own sin offering to make atonement for himself and his household. 7 Then he is to take the two goats and present them before the LORD at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 8 He is to cast lots for the two goats—one lot for the LORD and the other for Azazel. 9 Aaron shall bring the goat whose lot falls to the LORD and sacrifice it as a sin offering. 10 But the goat chosen by lot for Azazel shall be presented alive before the LORD to make atonement by sending it into the wilderness to Azazel. 11 Aaron shall bring the bull for his own sin offering to make atonement for himself and his household. He is to slaughter the bull for his own sin offering. 12 Then he shall take a censer full of burning coals from the altar before the LORD, and two handfuls of finely ground fragrant incense, and bring them inside the curtain. 13 He is to put the incense on the fire before the LORD, and the cloud of incense will cover the atonement cover above the testimony, so that he will not die. 14 He shall take some of the bull's blood and with his finger sprinkle it on the front of the atonement cover; then he shall sprinkle some of it with his finger seven times before the atonement cover. 15 He shall also slaughter the goat for the sin offering for the people and bring its blood inside the curtain. He shall do with its blood as he did with the bull's blood: He is to sprinkle it on the atonement cover and in front of it. 16 In this way, he will make atonement for the Most Holy Place because of the uncleanness and rebellion of the Israelites, whatever their sins have been. He is to do the same for the tent of meeting, which is among them in the midst of their uncleanness. 17 No one is to be in the tent of meeting from the time Aaron goes in to make atonement in the Most Holy Place until he comes out, having made atonement for himself, his household, and the whole assembly of Israel. 18 Then he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it. He shall take some of the bull's blood and some of the goat's blood and put it on all the horns of the altar. 19 He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times to cleanse it and consecrate it from the uncleanness of the Israelites.
- 2 Chr 3:8-9 : 8 He made the Most Holy Place in the inner sanctuary. Its length was twenty cubits, corresponding to the width of the house, and its width was twenty cubits. He overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents. 9 The weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold, and he also overlaid the upper chambers with gold. 10 He made two cherubim in the Most Holy Place, crafted out of sculptured work, and overlaid them with gold. 11 The wings of the cherubim were twenty cubits long. One wing of the first cherub was five cubits and touched the wall of the house, and its other wing, also five cubits, touched the wing of the second cherub. 12 Similarly, the wing of the second cherub, measuring five cubits, touched the other wall of the house, and its other wing, also five cubits, overlapped with the wing of the first cherub. 13 The wings of these cherubim were spread out twenty cubits in total. They stood on their feet, and their faces were turned inward toward the house. 14 He made the curtain of blue, purple, crimson, and fine linen, and he embroidered cherubim on it.
- Matt 27:51-53 : 51 Suddenly, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom, the earth quaked, and the rocks were split. 52 The tombs were opened, and many bodies of saints who had fallen asleep were raised. 53 After His resurrection, they came out of the tombs and entered the holy city and appeared to many people.
