Verse 1

Send{H7971} ye the lambs{H3733} for the ruler{H4910} of the land{H776} from Selah{H5554} to the wilderness,{H4057} unto the mount{H2022} of the daughter{H1323} of Zion.{H6726}

Verse 2

For it shall be that, as wandering{H5074} birds,{H5775} as a scattered{H7971} nest,{H7064} so shall the daughters{H1323} of Moab{H4124} be at the fords{H4569} of the Arnon.{H769}

Verse 3

Give counsel,{H6098} execute{H6213} justice;{H6415} make{H7896} thy shade{H6738} as the night{H3915} in the midst{H8432} of the noonday;{H6672} hide{H5641} the outcasts;{H5080} betray not the fugitive.{H5074}

Verse 4

Let mine outcasts{H5080} dwell{H1481} with thee; as for Moab,{H4124} be{H1933} thou a covert{H5643} to him from the face{H6440} of the destroyer.{H7703} For the extortioner{H4160} is brought to nought,{H656} destruction{H7701} ceaseth,{H3615} the oppressors{H7429} are consumed{H8552} out of the land.{H776}

Verse 5

And a throne{H3678} shall be established{H3559} in lovingkindness;{H2617} and one shall sit{H3427} thereon in truth,{H571} in the tent{H168} of David,{H1732} judging,{H8199} and seeking{H1875} justice,{H4941} and swift{H4106} to do righteousness.{H6664}

Verse 6

We have heard{H8085} of the pride{H1347} of Moab,{H4124} [that] he is very{H3966} proud;{H1341} even of his arrogancy,{H1346} and his pride,{H1347} and his wrath;{H5678} his boastings{H907} are nought.

Verse 7

Therefore shall Moab{H4124} wail{H3213} for Moab,{H4124} every one shall wail:{H3213} for the raisin-cakes{H808} of Kir-hareseth{H7025} shall ye mourn,{H1897} utterly stricken.{H5218}

Verse 8

For the fields{H7709} of Heshbon{H2809} languish,{H535} [and] the vine{H1612} of Sibmah;{H7643} the lords{H1167} of the nations{H1471} have broken down{H1986} the choice branches{H8291} thereof, which reached{H5060} even unto Jazer,{H3270} which wandered{H8582} into the wilderness;{H4057} its shoots{H7976} were spread abroad,{H5203} they passed over{H5674} the sea.{H3220}

Verse 9

Therefore I will weep{H1058} with the weeping{H1065} of Jazer{H3270} for the vine{H1612} of Sibmah;{H7643} I will water{H7301} thee with my tears,{H1832} O Heshbon,{H2809} and Elealeh:{H500} for upon thy summer fruits{H7019} and upon thy harvest{H7105} the [battle] shout{H1959} is fallen.{H5307}

Verse 10

And gladness{H8057} is taken away,{H622} and joy{H1524} out of the fruitful field;{H3759} and in the vineyards{H3754} there shall be no singing,{H7442} neither joyful noise:{H7321} no treader{H1869} shall tread out{H1869} wine{H3196} in the presses;{H3342} I have made the [vintage] shout{H1959} to cease.{H7673}

Verse 11

Wherefore my heart{H4578} soundeth{H1993} like a harp{H3658} for Moab,{H4124} and mine inward parts{H7130} for Kir-heres.{H7025}

Verse 12

And it shall come to pass, when Moab{H4124} presenteth{H7200} himself, when he wearieth{H3811} himself upon the high place,{H1116} and shall come{H935} to his sanctuary{H4720} to pray,{H6419} that he shall not prevail.{H3201}

Verse 13

This is the word{H1697} that Jehovah{H3068} spake{H1696} concerning Moab{H4124} in time{H227} past.

Verse 14

But now Jehovah{H3068} hath spoken,{H1696} saying,{H559} Within three{H7969} years,{H8141} as the years{H8141} of a hireling,{H7916} the glory{H3519} of Moab{H4124} shall be brought into contempt,{H7034} with all his great{H7227} multitude;{H1995} and the remnant{H7605} shall be very{H4592} small{H4213} and of no account.{H3808}
