Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD, saying: 'I will sing to the LORD, for He is highly exalted; the horse and its rider He has hurled into the sea.'

The LORD is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will glorify Him; the God of my father, and I will exalt Him.

Pharaoh’s chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; the finest of his officers were drowned in the Red Sea.

The deep waters covered them; they sank to the depths like a stone.

Your right hand, LORD, is majestic in power. Your right hand, LORD, shatters the enemy.

In the greatness of Your majesty, You overthrow those who rise against You. You unleash Your burning anger; it consumes them like stubble.

By the blast of Your nostrils, the waters piled up; the flowing waters stood like a wall; the depths congealed in the heart of the sea.

The enemy said, 'I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoils; my desire will be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them.'

But You blew with Your wind, and the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters.

Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like You—majestic in holiness, awesome in praises, working wonders?

12 Du strakte ut din høyre hånd, jorden slukte dem.

You stretched out Your right hand, and the earth swallowed them.

13 Du ledet med din kjærlighet det folket du forløste. Du førte dem med din kraft til din hellige bolig.

In Your steadfast love, You led the people You redeemed; in Your strength, You guided them to Your holy dwelling.

Terror and dread fall upon them; by the greatness of Your arm, they are still as a stone, until Your people pass by, LORD, until the people You have purchased pass by.

You will bring them in and plant them on the mountain of Your inheritance—the place, LORD, You made for Your dwelling, the sanctuary, Lord, Your hands established.

18 Herren skal regjere for evig og alltid.

The LORD will reign forever and ever.

19 For når faraos hester med vognene og rytterne hans gikk inn i havet, lot Herren havets vann vende tilbake over dem. Men Israels barn gikk på tørr grunn midt i havet.

For when Pharaoh’s horses, chariots, and horsemen went into the sea, the LORD brought the waters of the sea back over them, but the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground.

20 Da tok profetinnen Mirjam, Arons søster, en tamburin i sin hånd, og alle kvinnene fulgte etter henne med tamburiner og dans.

Then Miriam the prophetess, Aaron’s sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women followed her with tambourines and dancing.

Miriam sang to them: 'Sing to the LORD, for He is highly exalted. Both horse and rider He has hurled into the sea.'

22 Så lot Moses israelittene reise fra Rødehavet, og de dro ut i ørkenen Sjur. De gikk tre dager i ørkenen uten å finne vann.

Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea, and they went into the Desert of Shur. They traveled for three days in the desert without finding water.

23 Da de kom til Mara, kunne de ikke drikke vannet der, for det var bittert. Derfor ble stedet kalt Mara.

When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. That is why the place is called Marah.

24 Folk klaget til Moses og sa: 'Hva skal vi drikke?'

So the people grumbled against Moses, saying, 'What are we to drink?'

25 Da ropte Moses til Herren, og Herren viste ham et tre. Moses kastet det i vannet, og vannet ble søtt. Der satte Herren for dem en lov og en rett, og der prøvde han dem.

Then Moses cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There the LORD made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there He tested them.

26 Han sa: 'Hvis du trofast hører på Herren din Guds røst og gjør det som er rett i hans øyne, hvis du lytter til hans bud og holder alle hans forskrifter, vil jeg ikke påføre deg noen av de plagene jeg påførte Egypt. For jeg er Herren, din lege.'

He said, 'If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in His eyes, if you pay attention to His commands and keep all His decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.'

27 Så kom de til Elim, hvor det var tolv vannkilder og sytti palmer, og de slo leir der ved vannet.

Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there by the water.
