1 Herrens ord kom til meg, og det lød:

The word of the LORD came to me, saying,

2 Menneskesønn, profetér mot profetene i Israel som profeterer fra sitt eget hjerte. Si til dem: Hør Herrens ord!

Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are prophesying, and say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination: Hear the word of the LORD.

3 Så sier Herren Gud: Ve profetene, de dåraktige, som følger sin egen ånd uten å ha sett noe.

This is what the Lord GOD says: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!

4 Som rever i ruinene er dine profeter, Israel.

Your prophets, Israel, are like foxes among ruins.

5 Dere har ikke gått opp i gapene og bygd opp et gjerde for Israels hus, slik at de kunne stå seg i striden på Herrens dag.

You have not gone up to the breaches or repaired the wall for the house of Israel, so that it can stand firm in battle on the day of the LORD.

6 De har sett tomme syner og løgnaktige spådommer. De sier: Dette sier Herren, selv om Herren ikke har sendt dem. De håper at ordet vil bli stadfestet.

They have seen false visions and lying divinations. They say, ‘This is the declaration of the LORD,’ when the LORD has not sent them, and they hope to fulfill their words.

7 Har dere ikke sett et falskt syn og sagt løgnaktige spådommer da dere sier: Dette sier Herren, selv om jeg ikke har talt?

Haven’t you seen a false vision and spoken a lying divination when you say, ‘Thus says the LORD,’ but I have not spoken?

8 Derfor sier Herren Gud: Fordi dere har talt tomhet og sett løgn, så er jeg imot dere, sier Herren Gud.

Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: Because you have spoken falsehood and seen lies, I am against you, declares the Lord GOD.

9 Min hånd skal være mot profetene som ser falske syner og spår løgn. De skal ikke være med i mitt folks råd, ikke bli skrevet i Israels hus' bok, og ikke komme i Israels land. Da skal dere kjenne at jeg er Herren Gud.

My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people, nor be recorded in the register of the house of Israel, nor enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.

10 Fordi de leder mitt folk vill ved å si: Fred, når det ikke er fred, og når de bygger en vegg, ser de til å smøre den med kalk.

Because they have misled my people by saying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace, and because when a flimsy wall is built, they plaster it over with whitewash,

11 Si til dem som smører den med kalk, at den vil falle. Det skal komme en flommende regn, og dere store steiner vil falle, og en stormvind vil slå den i stykker.

say to those who plaster it with whitewash that it will fall. There will be a flooding rain, hailstones will fall, and a stormy wind will break it.

12 Når veggen faller, skal det sies til dere: Hvor er da kalken som dere smurte på den?

When the wall falls, people will ask you, ‘Where is the whitewash you applied?’

13 Derfor sier Herren Gud: Jeg bryter ut en stormfull vind i min vrede, og det skal være en flommende regn i min harme, og store haglsteiner i min vrede til ødeleggelse.

Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: In my wrath, I will unleash a stormy wind. In my anger, there will be flooding rain, and hailstones in fury will bring about destruction.

14 Jeg vil rive ned veggen som dere smurte med kalk, og kaste den til jorden så dens grunnvoll blir blottlagt. Den skal falle, og dere vil bli fortært i dens midte, og dere skal kjenne at jeg er Herren.

I will break down the wall that you plastered with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground so that its foundation is exposed. It will collapse, and you will perish within it. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

15 Jeg vil fullende min vrede på veggen og dem som smurte den med kalk, og jeg vil si til dere: Veggen er ikke, og de som smurte den er ikke.

So I will pour out my wrath on the wall and on those who plaster it with whitewash. I will tell you, ‘The wall is gone, and so are those who plastered it,’

16 Israels profeter som profeterer om Jerusalem og ser syner om fred for den, men det er ingen fred, sier Herren Gud.

along with the prophets of Israel who prophesied concerning Jerusalem and claimed visions of peace for her when there was no peace, declares the Lord GOD.

17 Du, menneskesønn, vend ansiktet mot ditt folks døtre som profeterer fra sitt eget hjerte, og profetér mot dem.

As for you, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people who prophesy out of their own imagination. Prophesy against them.

18 Si: Så sier Herren Gud: Ve dere som syr bånd til alle håndledd og lager slør for hvert hode for å fange sjeler. Ønsker dere å fange mitt folks sjeler og bevare sjelene for dere selv?

Say, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says: Woe to the women who sew magic bands for all wrists and make veils for the heads of people of every height to ensnare lives. Will you hunt down the lives of my people but preserve your own?

19 Dere vanhelliger meg blant mitt folk for håndfuller av bygg og biter av brød, ved å drepe sjeler som ikke skulle dø, og holde sjeler i live som ikke skulle leve, ved deres løgner til mitt folk som lytter til løgn.

You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and scraps of bread. By lying to my people, who listen to lies, you have killed those who should not have died and spared those who should not live.

20 Derfor sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg er imot deres bånd som dere bruker til å fange sjeler som fugler. Jeg vil rive dem av deres armer og sette de fangede sjelene fri som fugler.

Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I am against your magic bands with which you hunt lives like birds, and I will tear them from your arms. I will free the people that you have ensnared like birds.

21 Jeg vil rive deres slør, og jeg vil utfri mitt folk av deres hånd, og de skal ikke lenger være bytte i deres hånd. Dere skal kjenne at jeg er Herren.

I will tear off your veils and rescue my people from your hands, and they will no longer be prey in your hands. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

22 Fordi dere har bedrøvet den rettferdiges hjerte med løgner, selv om jeg ikke var med på det, og har styrket den ondes hender, så han ikke omvender seg fra sin onde vei for å redde sitt liv,

Because you disheartened the righteous with your lies when I had not caused them grief, and because you encouraged the wicked not to turn from their evil ways to save their lives,

23 derfor skal dere ikke lenger se tomme syner eller spå falske spådommer. Jeg vil utfri mitt folk fra deres hånd. Dere skal kjenne at jeg er Herren.

therefore you will no longer see false visions or practice divination. I will rescue my people from your hands, and you will know that I am the LORD.
