1 Gud velsignet Noah og hans sønner, og sa til dem: Vær fruktbare, bli mange, og fyll jorden.

And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

2 Og frykten for dere og redselen for dere skal være over hvert dyr på jorden, og over hver fugl under himmelen; alt som myldrer på marken, og alle fiskene i havet, i deres hånd er de gitt.

And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every bird of the heavens; With all wherewith the ground teemeth, and all the fishes of the sea, into your hand are they delivered.

3 Alt som rører seg, som lever, skal være føde for dere; som de grønne urtene har jeg gitt dere alt.

Every moving thing that liveth shall be food for you; As the green herb have I given you all.

4 Men kjøtt med livet i seg, det vil si blodet, skal dere ikke spise.

But flesh with the life thereof, `which is' the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

5 Og deres blod, deres livs blod, skal jeg kreve gjengjeld for; fra hvert dyr skal jeg kreve det. Og fra menneskets hånd, og fra hver menneskes bror, skal jeg kreve menneskets liv.

And surely your blood, `the blood' of your lives, will I require; At the hand of every beast will I require it. And at the hand of man, even at the hand of every man's brother, will I require the life of man.

6 Den som utøser menneskeblod, ved menneske skal hans blod bli utøst, for i Guds bilde skapte han mennesket.

Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: For in the image of God made he man.

7 Og dere, vær fruktbare og bli mange; vokse og bli mange på jorden.

And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; Bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.

8 Og Gud talte til Noah og hans sønner med ham og sa,

And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,

9 Se, jeg oppretter min pakt med dere og deres etterkommere etter dere;

And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;

10 og med hver eneste levende skapning som er med dere, fuglene, sværet og alle dyrene på jorden med dere. Alt som gikk ut av arken, alle dyrene på jorden.

and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you. Of all that go out of the ark, even every beast of the earth.

11 Og jeg vil opprette min pakt med dere; aldri mer skal alt kjød bli utryddet av vannmassene fra en flom; aldri mer skal det komme en flom til å ødelegge jorden.

And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of the flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.

12 Og Gud sa: Dette er tegnet på pakten som jeg gjør mellom meg og dere og hver levende skapning som er med dere, for evige generasjoner:

And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

13 Jeg setter min bue i skyen, og den skal være et tegn på en pakt mellom meg og jorden.

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

14 Og når jeg fører en sky over jorden, skal buen bli sett i skyen,

And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud,

15 og jeg vil huske min pakt, som er mellom meg og dere og hver levende skapning av alt kjød; og vannene skal aldri mer bli en flom for å ødelegge alt kjød.

and I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

16 Og buen skal være i skyen; og jeg vil se på den, for å minnes den evige pakt mellom Gud og hver levende skapning av alt kjød som er på jorden.

And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

17 Og Gud sa til Noah: Dette er tegnet på pakten som jeg har opprettet mellom meg og alt kjød som er på jorden.

And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

18 Og Noahs sønner som gikk ut av arken var Sem, og Kam, og Jafet; og Kam er far til Kanaan.

And the sons of Noah, that went forth from the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.

19 Disse tre var Noahs sønner; og fra dem ble hele jorden befolket.

These three were the sons of Noah: and of these was the whole earth overspread.

20 Og Noah begynte å bli en dyrker av jorden, og han plantet en vingård.

And Noah began to be a husbandman, and planted a vineyard:

21 Og han drakk av vinen, og ble drukken. Han lå naken i teltet sitt.

and he drank of the wine, and was drunken. And he was uncovered within his tent.

22 Og Kam, Kanaans far, så sin fars nakenhet og fortalte det til sine to brødre utenfor.

And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

23 Og Sem og Jafet tok en kappe, la den over skuldrene sine og gikk baklengs og dekket sin fars nakenhet. Deres ansikter var vendt bort, og de så ikke sin fars nakenhet.

And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father. And their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.

24 Noah våknet fra ruset, og han visste hva hans yngste sønn hadde gjort mot ham.

And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his youngest son had done unto him.

25 Og han sa: Forbannet være Kanaan; han skal være en tjeneres tjener for sine brødre.

And he said, Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

26 Og han sa: Velsignet være Herren, Sems Gud; og la Kanaan være hans tjener.

And he said, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Shem; And let Canaan be his servant.

27 Gud gi Jafet rikdom; og la ham bo i Sems telt; og la Kanaan være hans tjener.

God enlarge Japheth, And let him dwell in the tents of Shem; And let Canaan be his servant.

28 Noah levde tre hundre og femti år etter flommen.

And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.

29 Og alle Noahs dager var ni hundre og femti år; så døde han.

And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: And he died.
