Isaiah 64

Oh{H3863} that thou wouldest rend{H7167}{(H8804)} the heavens{H8064}, that thou wouldest come down{H3381}{(H8804)}, that the mountains{H2022} might flow down{H2151}{(H8738)} at thy presence{H6440},

As when the melting{H2003} fire{H784} burneth{H6919}{(H8800)}, the fire{H784} causeth the waters{H4325} to boil{H1158}{(H8799)}, to make thy name{H8034} known{H3045}{(H8687)} to thine adversaries{H6862}, that the nations{H1471} may tremble{H7264}{(H8799)} at thy presence{H6440}!

When thou didst{H6213}{(H8800)} terrible things{H3372}{(H8737)} which we looked{H6960}{(H8762)} not for, thou camest down{H3381}{(H8804)}, the mountains{H2022} flowed down{H2151}{(H8738)} at thy presence{H6440}.

For since the beginning of the world{H5769} men have not heard{H8085}{(H8804)}, nor perceived by the ear{H238}{(H8689)}, neither hath the eye{H5869} seen{H7200}{(H8804)}, O God{H430}, beside{H2108} thee, what he hath prepared{H6213}{(H8799)} for him that waiteth{H2442}{(H8764)} for him.

Thou meetest{H6293}{(H8804)} him that rejoiceth{H7797}{(H8801)} and worketh{H6213}{(H8802)} righteousness{H6664}, those that remember{H2142}{(H8799)} thee in thy ways{H1870}: behold, thou art wroth{H7107}{(H8804)}; for we have sinned{H2398}{(H8799)}: in those is continuance{H5769}, and we shall be saved{H3467}{(H8735)}.

But we are all as an unclean{H2931} thing, and all our righteousnesses{H6666} are as filthy{H5708} rags{H899}; and we all do fade{H5034}{(H8799)}{(H8676)}{H1101}{(H8686)} as a leaf{H5929}; and our iniquities{H5771}, like the wind{H7307}, have taken us away{H5375}{(H8799)}.

And there is none that calleth{H7121}{(H8802)} upon thy name{H8034}, that stirreth up{H5782}{(H8711)} himself to take hold{H2388}{(H8687)} of thee: for thou hast hid{H5641}{(H8689)} thy face{H6440} from us, and hast consumed{H4127}{(H8799)} us, because{H3027} of our iniquities{H5771}.

But now, O LORD{H3068}, thou art our father{H1}; we are the clay{H2563}, and thou our potter{H3335}{(H8802)}; and we all are the work{H4639} of thy hand{H3027}.

Be not wroth{H7107}{(H8799)} very sore{H3966}, O LORD{H3068}, neither remember{H2142}{(H8799)} iniquity{H5771} for ever{H5703}: behold, see{H5027}{(H8685)}, we beseech thee, we are all thy people{H5971}.

Thy holy{H6944} cities{H5892} are a wilderness{H4057}, Zion{H6726} is a wilderness{H4057}, Jerusalem{H3389} a desolation{H8077}.

Our holy{H6944} and our beautiful{H8597} house{H1004}, where our fathers{H1} praised{H1984}{(H8765)} thee, is burned up{H8316} with fire{H784}: and all our pleasant things{H4261} are laid waste{H2723}.

Wilt thou refrain{H662}{(H8691)} thyself for these things, O LORD{H3068}? wilt thou hold thy peace{H2814}{(H8799)}, and afflict{H6031}{(H8762)} us very sore{H3966}?
