    14And the closest to him were Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, who saw the king's face and who sat first in the kingdom).

    15What shall we do to Queen Vashti according to law, because she has not performed the commandment of King Ahasuerus by the eunuchs?

    16And Memucan answered before the king and the princes, 'Queen Vashti has not only wronged the king but also all the princes and all the people who are in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus.

    17For the queen's actions shall be made known to all women, so that they will despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported,

    18Likewise, shall the ladies of Persia and Media say this day to all the king's princes who have heard of the queen's action. Thus, there shall arise much contempt and wrath.

    19If it pleases the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it shall not be altered, that Vashti shall no more come before King Ahasuerus, and let the king give her royal estate to another who is better than she.

    20And when the king's decree which he shall make shall be published throughout all his empire (for it is great), all the wives shall give to their husbands honor, both to great and small.

  • 4And let the maiden who pleases the king be queen instead of Vashti." And the thing pleased the king; and he did so.

  • 5And when these days were completed, the king made a feast for all the people that were present in Shushan the palace, both great and small, seven days, in the court of the garden of the king's palace.

  • 10Now the queen, because of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet hall. The queen spoke and said, "O king, live forever! Let not your thoughts trouble you, nor let your face be changed.
