13Moreover, he said to me,“I have taken note of these people; they are a stubborn lot!
10This is my requirement that you and your descendants after you must keep: Every male among you must be circumcised.
11You must circumcise the flesh of your foreskins. This will be a reminder of the covenant between me and you.
25The LORD says,“Watch out! The time is soon coming when I will punish all those who are circumcised only in the flesh.
26That is, I will punish the Egyptians, the Judeans, the Edomites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, and all the desert people who cut their hair short at the temples. I will do so because none of the people of those nations are really circumcised in the LORD’s sight. Moreover, none of the people of Israel are circumcised when it comes to their hearts.”
15However, only to your ancestors did he show his loving favor, and he chose you, their descendants, from all peoples– as is apparent today.
51“You stubborn people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are always resisting the Holy Spirit, like your ancestors did!
16“But they– our ancestors– behaved presumptuously; they rebelled and did not obey your commandments.

28For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision something that is outward in the flesh,
29but someone is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart by the Spirit and not by the letter. This person’s praise is not from people but from God.
6Understand, therefore, that it is not because of your righteousness that the LORD your God is about to give you this good land as a possession, for you are a stubborn people!
9Then the LORD said to Moses:“I have seen this people. Look what a stiff-necked people they are!
14But they did not pay attention and were as stubborn as their ancestors, who had not trusted the LORD their God.
5For the LORD had said to Moses,“Tell the Israelites,‘You are a stiff-necked people. If I went up among you for a moment, I might destroy you. Now take off your ornaments, that I may know what I should do to you.’”
17For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty, and awesome God who is unbiased and takes no bribe,

8“Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of testing in the wilderness.
14Any uncircumcised male who has not been circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin will be cut off from his people– he has failed to carry out my requirement.”
9This is what the Sovereign LORD says: No foreigner, who is uncircumcised in heart and flesh among all the foreigners who are among the people of Israel, will enter into my sanctuary.
19I will give them one heart and I will put a new spirit within them; I will remove the hearts of stone from their bodies and I will give them tender hearts,
10if you obey the LORD your God and keep his commandments and statutes that are written in this scroll of the law. But you must turn to him with your whole mind and being.

8“I have made your face adamant to match their faces, and your forehead hard to match their foreheads.
16Narrative Interlude Today the LORD your God is commanding you to keep these statutes and ordinances, something you must do with all your heart and soul.
10Now I intend to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, so that he may relent from his raging anger.
