3If someone spreads false teachings and does not agree with sound words(that is, those of our Lord Jesus Christ) and with the teaching that accords with godliness,
2in which you formerly lived according to this world’s present path, according to the ruler of the domain of the air, the ruler of the spirit that is now energizing the sons of disobedience,
3among whom all of us also formerly lived out our lives in the cravings of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath even as the rest…
6to knowledge, self-control; to self-control, perseverance; to perseverance, godliness;

12Let no one look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in your speech, conduct, love, faithfulness, and purity.
15Make every effort to present yourself before God as a proven worker who does not need to be ashamed, teaching the message of truth accurately.
11Since all these things are to melt away in this manner, what sort of people must we be, conducting our lives in holiness and godliness,
22You were taught with reference to your former way of life to lay aside the old man who is being corrupted in accordance with deceitful desires,
25correcting opponents with gentleness. Perhaps God will grant them repentance and then knowledge of the truth

7And so, since we have been justified by his grace, we become heirs with the confident expectation of eternal life.”
8Summary of the Letter This saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on such truths, so that those who have placed their faith in God may be intent on engaging in good works. These things are good and beneficial for all people.

14Here is another way that our people can learn to engage in good works to meet pressing needs and so not be unfruitful.
1Self-Purification Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that could defile the body and the spirit, and thus accomplish holiness out of reverence for God.
