Verse 17

The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt in the land of Egypt, and with an high arme brought them out thereof.

Jer 32:20-21 : 20 Which hast set signes and wonders in the land of Egypt vnto this day, and in Israel, and among all men, and hast made thee a Name, as appeareth this day, 21 And hast brought thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signes, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, with a stretched out arme, and with great terrour,
Jer 33:24-26 : 24 Considerest thou not what this people haue spoken, saying, The two families, which the Lord hath chosen, hee hath euen cast them off? thus they haue despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them. 25 Thus sayth the Lorde, If my couenant be not with day and night, and if I haue not appointed the order of heauen and earth, 26 Then will I cast away the seede of Iaakob and Dauid my seruant, and not take of his seede to be rulers ouer the seede of Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob: for I wil cause their captiuitie to returne, and haue compassion on them.

Acts 7:2-9 : 2 And he sayd, Ye men, brethren and Fathers, hearken. That God of glory appeared vnto our father Abraham, while he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran, 3 And said vnto him, Come out of thy countrey, and from thy kindred, and come into the land, which I shall shewe thee. 4 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldeans, and dwelt in Charran; after that his father was dead, God brought him from thence into this land, wherein ye now dwell, 5 And hee gaue him none inheritance in it, no, not the bredth of a foote: yet he promised that he would giue it to him for a possession, and to his seede after him, when as yet hee had no childe. 6 But God spake thus, that his seede should be a soiourner in a strange land: and that they should keepe it in bondage, and entreate it euill foure hundreth yeeres. 7 But the nation to whome they shall be in bondage, will I iudge, sayth God: and after that, they shall come forth and serue me in this place. 8 Hee gaue him also the couenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begate Isaac, and circumcised him the eight day: and Isaac begate Iacob, and Iacob the twelue Patriarkes. 9 And the Patriarkes moued with enuie, solde Ioseph into Egypt: but God was with him, 10 And deliuered him out of all his afflictions, and gaue him fauour and wisdome in the sight of Pharao King of Egypt, who made him gouernour ouer Egypt, and ouer his whole house. 11 Then came there a famine ouer all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction, that our fathers found no sustenance. 12 But when Iacob heard that there was corne in Egypt, he sent our fathers first: 13 And at the second time, Ioseph was knowen of his brethren, and Iosephs kindred was made knowen vnto Pharao. 14 Then sent Ioseph and caused his father to be brought, and all his kindred, euen threescore and fifteene soules. 15 So Iacob went downe into Egypt, and he dyed, and our fathers, 16 And were remoued into Sychem, and were put in the sepulchre, that Abraham had bought for money of the sonnes of Emor, sonne of Sychem. 17 But when the time of the promes drewe neere, which God had sworne to Abraham, the people grewe and multiplied in Egypt, 18 Till another King arose, which knewe not Ioseph. 19 The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and euill entreated our fathers, and made them to cast out their yong children, that they should not remaine aliue. 20 The same time was Moses borne, and was acceptable vnto God, which was nourished vp in his fathers house three moneths. 21 And when he was cast out, Pharaos daughter tooke him vp, and nourished him for her owne sonne. 22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdome of the Egyptians, and was mightie in wordes and in deedes. 23 Nowe when he was full fourtie yeere olde, it came into his heart to visite his brethren, the children of Israel. 24 And whe he saw one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, & auenged his quarell that had the harme done to him, and smote the Egyptian. 25 For hee supposed his brethren would haue vnderstand, that God by his hande should giue them deliuerance: but they vnderstoode it not. 26 And the next day, he shewed himselfe vnto them as they stroue, and woulde haue set them at one againe, saying, Syrs, ye are brethren: why doe ye wrong one to another? 27 But he that did his neighbour wrong, thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a prince, and a iudge ouer vs? 28 Wilt thou kill mee, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday? 29 Then fled Moses at that saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begate two sonnes. 30 And when fourtie yeres were expired, there appeared to him in the wildernes of mout Sina, an Angel of the Lord in a flame of fire, in a bush. 31 And when Moses sawe it, hee wondred at the sight: and as he drew neere to consider it, the voyce of the Lord came vnto him, saying, 32 I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob. Then Moses trembled, & durst not behold it. 33 Then the Lord said to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feete: for the place where thou standest, is holy ground. 34 I haue seene, I haue seene the affliction of my people, which is in Egypt, & I haue heard their groning, and am come downe to deliuer them: and nowe come, and I will sende thee into Egypt. 35 This Moses whome they forsooke, saying, Who made thee a prince and a iudge? The same God sent for a prince, & a deliuerer by the hand of the Angel, which appeared to him in the bush. 36 Hee brought them out, doing wonders, and miracles in the land of Egypt, and in the red sea, and in the wildernes fourtie yeeres. 37 This is that Moses, which saide vnto the children of Israel, A Prophet shall the Lorde your God raise vp vnto you, euen of your brethren, like vnto me: him shall ye heare. 38 This is he that was in the Congregation, in the wildernes with the Angell, which spake to him in mount Sina, and with our fathers, who receiued the liuely oracles to giue vnto vs. 39 To whom our fathers would not obey, but refused, and in their hearts turned backe againe into Egypt: 40 Saying vnto Aaron, Make vs gods that may goe before vs: for we knowe not what is become of this Moses that brought vs out of the land of Egypt. 41 And they made a calfe in those dayes, and offered sacrifice vnto the idole, and reioyced in the workes of their owne handes. 42 Then God turned himselfe away, and gaue them vp to serue the host of heauen, as it is written in the booke of the Prophets, O house of Israel, haue ye offred to me slaine beasts and sacrifices by the space of fourtie yeres in the wildernes? 43 And ye tooke vp the tabernacle of Moloch, and the starre of your god Remphan, figures, which ye made to worship them: therefore I will carie you away beyond Babylon. 44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of witnes, in the wildernes, as hee had appointed, speaking vnto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seene. 45 Which tabernacle also our fathers receiued, and brought in with Iesus into the possession of the Gentiles, which God draue out before our fathers, vnto the dayes of Dauid: 46 Who found fauour before God, and desired that hee might finde a tabernacle for the God of Iacob. 47 But Solomon built him an house. 48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with handes, as saith the Prophet, 49 Heauen is my throne, and earth is my footestoole: what house wil ye build for me, saith the Lord? or what place is it that I should rest in? 50 Hath not mine hand made all these things? 51 Ye stiffenecked and of vncircumcised heartes and eares, ye haue alwayes resisted the holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do you. 52 Which of the Prophets haue not your fathers persecuted? & they haue slaine them, which shewed before of the comming of that Iust, of whome ye are now the betrayers and murtherers, 53 Which haue receiued the Lawe by the ordinance of Angels, and haue not kept it.
1 Pet 2:9 : 9 But yee are a chosen generation, a royall Priesthoode, an holy nation, a people set at libertie, that yee shoulde shewe foorth the vertues of him that hath called you out of darkenesse into his marueilous light,
Deut 7:19 : 19 The great tentations which thine eyes sawe, and the signes and wonders, and the mighty hand and stretched out arme, whereby the Lorde thy God brought thee out: so shall the Lord thy God do vnto all ye people, whose face thou fearest.
Deut 9:5 : 5 For thou entrest not to inherite their lande for thy righteousnesse, or for thy vpright heart: but for the wickednesse of those nations, the Lord thy God doth cast them out before thee, and that he might performe the worde which the Lord thy God sware vnto thy fathers, Abraham, Izhak, and Iacob.

1 Sam 4:8 : 8 Wo vnto vs, who shall deliuer vs out of the hande of these mightie Gods? these are the Gods that smote the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wildernes.
Neh 9:7-9 : 7 Thou art, O Lord, the God, that hast chosen Abram, and broughtest him out of Vr in Caldea, and madest his name Abraham, 8 And foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a couenant with him, to giue vnto his seede the lande of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, and Perizzites, and Iebusites, and Girgashites, and hast performed thy wordes, because thou art iust. 9 Thou hast also considered the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heard their cry by the red Sea, 10 And shewed tokens & wonders vpon Pharaoh, and on all his seruants, and on all the people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudely against them: therefore thou madest thee a Name, as appeareth this day. 11 For thou didest breake vp the Sea before them, and they went through the middes of the Sea on dry lande: and those that pursued them, hast thou cast into the bottomes as a stone, in the mightie waters: 12 And leddest them in the day with a pillar of a cloude, and in the night with a pillar of fire to giue them light in the way that they went.
Ps 77:13-20 : 13 Thy way, O God, is in the Sanctuarie: who is so great a God as our God! 14 Thou art ye God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy power among the people. 15 Thou hast redeemed thy people with thine arme, euen the sonnes of Iaakob & Ioseph. Selah. 16 The waters sawe thee, O God: the waters sawe thee, and were afraide: yea, the depths trembled. 17 The cloudes powred out water: the heauens gaue a sounde: yea, thine arrowes went abroade. 18 The voyce of thy thunder was rounde about: the lightnings lightened the worlde: the earth trembled and shooke. 19 Thy way is in the Sea, and thy paths in the great waters, & thy footesteps are not knowen. 20 Thou diddest leade thy people like sheepe by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
Ps 78:12-13 : 12 Hee did marueilous thinges in the sight of their fathers in the lande of Egypt: euen in the fielde of Zoan. 13 He deuided the Sea, & led them through: he made also the waters to stand as an heape.
Ps 78:42-53 : 42 They remebred not his hand, nor the day when he deliuered them from the enemie, 43 Nor him that set his signes in Egypt, and his wonders in the fielde of Zoan, 44 And turned their riuers into blood, & their floods, that they could not drinke. 45 Hee sent a swarme of flies among them, which deuoured them, and frogs, which destroyed them. 46 He gaue also their fruites vnto the caterpiller, and their labour vnto the grassehopper. 47 He destroied their vines with haile, & their wilde figge trees with the hailestone. 48 He gaue their cattell also to the haile, and their flockes to the thunderboltes. 49 Hee cast vpon them the fiercenesse of his anger, indignation and wrath, and vexation by the sending out of euill Angels. 50 He made a way to his anger: he spared not their soule from death, but gaue their life to the pestilence, 51 And smote al the firstborne in Egypt, euen the beginning of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham. 52 But hee made his people to goe out like sheepe, & led them in the wildernes like a flocke. 53 Yea, he caried them out safely, and they feared not, and the Sea couered their enemies.
Ps 105:6-9 : 6 Ye seede of Abraham his seruant, ye children of Iaakob, which are his elect. 7 He is the Lorde our God: his iudgements are through all the earth. 8 He hath alway remembred his couenant & promes, that he made to a thousand generations, 9 Euen that which he made with Abraham, and his othe vnto Izhak: 10 And since hath confirmed it to Iaakob for a lawe, and to Israel for an euerlasting couenant, 11 Saying, Vnto thee will I giue the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance. 12 Albeit they were fewe in nomber, yea, very fewe, and strangers in the land,
Gen 12:1-3 : 1 For the Lorde had said vnto Abram, Get thee out of thy countrey, and from thy kindred, and from thy fathers house vnto the land that I will shewe thee. 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and will blesse thee, and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing. 3 I will also blesse them that blesse thee, and curse them that curse thee, and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Gen 17:7-8 : 7 Moreouer I wil establish my couenant betweene me and thee, and thy seede after thee in their generations, for an euerlasting couenant, to be God vnto thee and to thy seede after thee. 8 And I will giue thee and thy seede after thee the land, wherein thou art a stranger, euen all the land of Canaan, for an euerlasting possession, and I will be their God.
Exod 1:7-9 : 7 And the children of Israel brought foorth fruite and encreased in aboundance, and were multiplied, and were exceeding mightie, so that the land was full of them. 8 Then there rose vp a newe King in Egypt, who knewe not Ioseph. 9 And he sayde vnto his people, Beholde, the people of the children of Israel are greater and mightier then we.
Exod 6:1-9 : 1 Then the Lord sayd vnto Moses, Nowe shalt thou see, what I will doe vnto Pharaoh: for by a strong hand shall he let them goe, and euen be constrained to driue them out of his land. 2 Moreouer God spake vnto Moses, and sayd vnto him, I am the Lord, 3 And I appeared vnto Abraha, to Izhak, & to Iaakob by the Name of Almightie God: but by my Name Iehouah was I not knowen vnto the. 4 Furthermore as I made my couenant with them to giue them ye land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers: 5 So I haue also hearde the groning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keepe in bondage, and haue remembred my couenant. 6 Wherefore say thou vnto the children of Israel, I am the Lord, and I will bring you out fro the burdens of the Egyptians, & will deliuer you out of their bondage, and will redeeme you in a stretched out arme, and in great iudgements. 7 Also I will take you for my people, & will be your God: then ye shall knowe that I the Lord your God bring you out from the burdens of the Egyptians. 8 And I will bring you into the land which I sware that I woulde giue to Abraham, to Izhak, and to Iaakob, and I will giue it vnto you for a possession: I am the Lord. 9 So Moses told the children of Israel thus: but they hearkened not vnto Moses, for anguish of spirit and for cruel bondage. 10 Then the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying, 11 Go speak to Pharaoh King of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel goe out of his land. 12 But Moses spake before the Lorde, saying, Beholde, the children of Israel hearken not vnto me, howe then shall Pharaoh heare mee, which am of vncircumcised lippes? 13 Then the Lord spake vnto Moses & vnto Aaron, & charged them to goe to the children of Israel & to Pharaoh King of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the lande of Egypt. 14 These bee the heades of their fathers houses: the sonnes of Reuben the first borne of Israel are Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi: these are ye families of Reuben.
Exod 13:14 : 14 And when thy sonne shall aske thee to morowe, saying, What is this? thou shalt then say vnto him, With a mightie hande the Lorde brought vs out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Exod 13:16 : 16 And it shalbe as a token vpon thine hand, and as frontlets betweene thine eyes, that the Lorde brought vs out of Egypt by a mightie hande.
Exod 15:1-9 : 1 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song vnto the Lord, and sayd in this maner, I will sing vnto the Lorde: for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and him that rode vpon him hath he ouerthrowen in the Sea. 2 The Lord is my strength and praise, and he is become my saluation. He is my God, and I will prepare him a tabernacle. he is my fathers God, and I will exalt him. 3 The Lord is a man of warre, his Name is Iehouah. 4 Pharaohs charets and his host hath he cast into the Sea: his chosen captaines also were drowned in the red Sea. 5 The depths haue couered them, they sanke to the bottome as a stone. 6 Thy right hande, O Lorde, is glorious in power: thy right hand, O Lorde, hath brused the enemie. 7 And in thy great glorie thou hast ouerthrowen them that rose against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as the stubble. 8 And by the blast of thy nostrels the waters were gathered, the floods stoode still as an heape, the depthes congealed together in the heart of the Sea. 9 The enemie sayd, I wil pursue, I wil ouertake them, I will deuide the spoyle, my lust shall bee satisfied vpon them, I will drawe my sworde, mine hand shall destroy them. 10 Thou blewest with thy winde, the Sea couered them, they sanke as leade in the mightie waters. 11 Who is like vnto thee, O Lord, among the Gods! Who is like thee so glorious in holinesse, fearefull in prayses, doing wonders! 12 Thou stretchedst out thy right hande, the earth swallowed them. 13 Thou wilt by thy mercie cary this people, which thou deliueredst: thou wilt bring them in thy strength vnto thine holy habitation. 14 The people shal heare and be afraide: sorow shal come vpon the inhabitants of Palestina. 15 Then the dukes of Edom shalbe amased, & trembling shall come vpon the great men of Moab: all the inhabitantes of Canaan shall waxe faint hearted. 16 Feare and dread shall fall vpon them: because of the greatnesse of thine arme, they shalbe stil as a stone, till thy people passe, O Lord: til this people passe, which thou hast purchased. 17 Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountaine of thine inheritance, which is the place that thou hast prepared, O Lord, for to dwell in, euen the sanctuarie, O Lord, which thine hands shall establish. 18 The Lord shall reigne for euer and euer. 19 For Pharaohs horses went with his charets and horsemen into the Sea, and the Lorde brought the waters of the Sea vpon them: but the children of Israel went on drie land in the middes of the Sea. 20 And Miriam the prophetesse, sister of Aaron tooke a timbrell in her hande, and all the women came out after her with timbrels and daunces. 21 And Miriam answered the men, Sing yee vnto the Lord: for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath hee ouerthrowen in the Sea.
Exod 18:11 : 11 Now I know that the Lord is greater then all the gods: for as they haue dealt proudly with them, so are they recompensed.
