Verse 14

  • Ezek 37:11-28 : 11 Then he said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off. 12 Therefore prophesy and say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13 And you shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, 14 And shall put my spirit in you, and you shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall you know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, says the LORD. 15 The word of the LORD came again to me, saying, 16 Moreover, son of man, take one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions: 17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in your hand. 18 And when the children of your people shall speak to you, saying, Will you not show us what you mean by these? 19 Say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in my hand. 20 And the sticks whereon you write shall be in your hand before their eyes. 21 And say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they are gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land: 22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall no more be two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all: 23 Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwelling places, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God. 24 And my servant David shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. 25 And they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children forever: and my servant David shall be their prince forever. 26 Moreover, I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them forevermore. 27 My tabernacle also shall be with them: yes, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 28 And the nations shall know that I the LORD sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them forevermore.

As I live, says the LORD, you shall surely clothe yourself with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on you, as a bride does. 19 For your waste and your desolate places, and the land of your destruction, shall now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and those who swallowed you up shall be far away. 20 The children which you shall have, after you have lost the other, shall say again in your ears, The place is too narrow for me: give place to me that I may dwell. 21 Then you shall say in your heart, Who has begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and moving to and fro? and who has brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where have they been? 22 Thus says the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up my hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring your sons in their arms, and your daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders. 23 And kings shall be your nursing fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers: they shall bow down to you with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of your feet; and you shall know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed who wait for me. 24 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? 25 But thus says the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your children. 26 And I will feed them that oppress you with their own flesh; and they shall be drunk with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
  • Isa 51:3-9 : 3 For the LORD will comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness will be found in it, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody. 4 Listen to me, my people; and give ear to me, O my nation: for a law will proceed from me, and I will make my justice a light for the people. 5 My righteousness is near; my salvation has gone forth, and my arms will judge the people; the islands will wait upon me, and on my arm they will trust. 6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens will vanish away like smoke, and the earth will grow old like a garment, and those who dwell in it will die in like manner: but my salvation will last forever, and my righteousness will not be abolished. 7 Listen to me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; do not fear the reproach of men, nor be afraid of their revilings. 8 For the moth will eat them up like a garment, and the worm will eat them like wool: but my righteousness will last forever, and my salvation from generation to generation. 9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in ancient days, in the generations of old. Are you not the one who cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon? 10 Are you not the one who dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; who made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over? 11 Therefore the redeemed of the LORD will return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy will be upon their heads: they will obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning will flee away. 12 I, even I, am he who comforts you: who are you, that you should be afraid of a man who will die, and of the son of man who will be made like grass; 13 And you forget the LORD your Maker, who stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and you fear continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? And where is the fury of the oppressor? 14 The captive exile hastens to be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail. 15 But I am the LORD your God, who divided the sea, whose waves roared: the LORD of hosts is his name. 16 And I have put my words in your mouth, and I have covered you in the shadow of my hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say to Zion, 'You are my people.' 17 Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, who have drunk at the hand of the LORD the cup of his fury; you have drunk the dregs of the cup of trembling, and wrung them out. 18 There is none to guide her among all the sons she has brought forth; neither is there any who takes her by the hand of all the sons she has raised. 19 These two things have come upon you; who shall feel sorry for you? Desolation and destruction, and the famine, and the sword: by whom shall I comfort you? 20 Your sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, like a wild bull in a net: they are full of the fury of the LORD, the rebuke of your God. 21 Therefore hear now this, you afflicted, and drunk, but not with wine: 22 Thus says your Lord, the LORD, your God who pleads the cause of his people, 'Behold, I have taken from your hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; you shall no more drink it again: 23 But I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you; who have said to your soul, 'Bow down, that we may go over:' and you have laid your body like the ground, and like the street, for those who went over.'

And I said, You shall call me, My Father; and shall not turn away from me. 20 Surely, as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so have you dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, says the LORD. 21 A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God. 22 Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come to you; for you are the LORD our God. 23 Truly, in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills and from the multitude of mountains: truly, in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel. 24 For shame has devoured the labor of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.

  • Jer 30:18-22 : 18 Thus says the LORD; Behold, I will bring back the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have mercy on his dwelling places; and the city shall be rebuilt on its own ruins, and the palace shall remain as it used to be. 19 And out of them shall come thanksgiving and the voice of those who make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small. 20 Their children also shall be as before, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all who oppress them. 21 And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall come from among them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach me: for who is he who devoted his heart to approach me? says the LORD. 22 And you shall be my people, and I will be your God.
  • Jer 31:1-9 : 1 At that time, says the LORD, I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people. 2 Thus says the LORD, The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to give him rest. 3 The LORD appeared to me long ago, saying, Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn you. 4 Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin of Israel: you shall again be adorned with tambourines, and shall go forth in the dances of those who rejoice. 5 You shall yet plant vineyards upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things. 6 For there shall be a day when the watchmen on Mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise, and let us go up to Zion to the LORD our God. 7 For thus says the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: proclaim, give praise, and say, O LORD, save your people, the remnant of Israel. 8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the ends of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and she who is in labor together: a great company shall return there. 9 They shall come with weeping, and with supplications I will lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, in which they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn. 10 Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, and declare it in the distant isles, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd does his flock. 11 For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him who was stronger than he. 12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden, and they shall not sorrow anymore at all. 13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow. 14 And I will satisfy the soul of the priests with abundance, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, says the LORD. 15 Thus says the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they are no more. 16 Thus says the LORD; Restrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears: for your work shall be rewarded, says the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy. 17 And there is hope in your future, says the LORD, that your children shall come again to their own border. 18 I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bull not accustomed to the yoke: turn me, and I shall be turned; for you are the LORD my God. 19 Surely, after I was turned, I repented; and after I was instructed, I struck my thigh: I was ashamed, yes, even humiliated, because I bore the reproach of my youth. 20 Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spoke against him, I earnestly remember him still: therefore my heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, says the LORD. 21 Set up waymarks, make high heaps: set your heart toward the highway, the way you came: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these your cities. 22 How long will you wander about, O backsliding daughter? for the LORD has created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall encompass a man. 23 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; They shall still say this word in the land of Judah and in its cities, when I bring back their captivity; The LORD bless you, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness. 24 And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all its cities together, farmers, and those who go forth with flocks. 25 For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul. 26 Upon this I awoke, and looked around; and my sleep was sweet to me. 27 Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and the seed of beast. 28 And it shall come to pass, that just as I have watched over them, to uproot, to break down, to throw down, and to destroy, and to harm; so will I watch over them, to build and to plant, says the LORD. 29 In those days they shall no longer say, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge. 30 But everyone shall die for his own sin: every man who eats sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge. 31 Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they broke, although I was a husband to them, says the LORD: 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law within them, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. 35 Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who divides the sea when its waves roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: 36 If those ordinances depart from before me, says the LORD, then the descendants of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me forever. 37 Thus says the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the descendants of Israel for all that they have done, says the LORD.
  • Jer 32:36-41 : 36 And now therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, of which you say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; 37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, where I have driven them in my anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely: 38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: 39 And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me forever, for the good of them, and their children after them: 40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. 41 Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.
  • Jer 33:6-9 : 6 Behold, I will bring it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth. 7 And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first. 8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned and transgressed against me. 9 And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honor before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do for them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I provide to it. 10 Thus says the LORD: Again there shall be heard in this place, which you say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast, 11 The voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for His mercy endures forever: and of those who shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause the captivity of the land to return, as at the first, says the LORD. 12 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all its cities, there shall be a habitation for shepherds causing their flocks to lie down. 13 In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, flocks shall again pass under the hands of him who counts them, says the LORD. 14 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. 15 In those days, and at that time, I will cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. 16 In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name by which she shall be called, The LORD our Righteousness. 17 For thus says the LORD: David shall never lack a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel; 18 Neither shall the priests, the Levites, lack a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle grain offerings, and to do sacrifice continually. 19 And the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying, 20 Thus says the LORD: If you can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, so there should not be day and night in their season, 21 Then my covenant may also be broken with David my servant, so that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites, the priests, my ministers. 22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, nor the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the descendants of David my servant, and the Levites that minister to me. 23 Moreover, the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying, 24 Do you not consider what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the LORD has chosen, he has even cast them off? Thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them. 25 Thus says the LORD: If my covenant is not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth, 26 Then I will cast away the descendants of Jacob and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his descendants to be rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.
