11By these letters, the king granted the Jews in every city the right to gather and protect themselves, to destroy, to slay, and to annihilate any armed force of any people or province that might attack them, along with their little ones and women, and to plunder their possessions.
18And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.
27Shall we then listen to you to do all this great evil, transgressing against our God by marrying pagan women?
11Now hear me therefore, and return the captives, whom you have taken captive of your brethren, for the fierce wrath of the LORD is upon you.

17And in every province and every city, wherever the king's command and his decree came, the Jews had joy, gladness, a feast, and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews, for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.
22And it shall be, when their fathers or their brothers come to us to complain, that we will say to them, Be kind to them for our sakes, because we did not reserve each man his wife in the war; for you did not give them to them at this time, so you would not be guilty.
