  • Jer 23:14 : 14 I have also seen a horrible thing in the prophets of Jerusalem: They commit adultery and walk in lies. They also strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that none returns from his wickedness. They are all to me as Sodom, and the inhabitants of it as Gomorrah.
  • Matt 23:37-38 : 37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you, how often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! 38 See, your house is left to you desolate.
  • John 7:45-53 : 45 Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, Why have you not brought him? 46 The officers answered, No man ever spoke like this man. 47 Then the Pharisees answered them, Are you also deceived? 48 Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in him? 49 But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed. 50 Nicodemus (he who came to Jesus by night, being one of them) said to them, 51 Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing? 52 They answered and said to him, Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for no prophet has arisen out of Galilee. 53 And everyone went to his own house.
  • Acts 23:6-9 : 6 But when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being questioned. 7 And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided. 8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees acknowledge both. 9 And there arose a great outcry, and the scribes who were of the Pharisees' group arose and contended, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God. 10 And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing that Paul might be torn to pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them, and bring him into the barracks.
  • Gen 11:7-9 : 7 Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. 8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. 9 Therefore its name is called Babel, because the LORD confused the language of all the earth there, and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.
  • 2 Sam 15:31 : 31 And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray you, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.
  • 2 Sam 17:1-9 : 1 Moreover Ahithophel said to Absalom, Let me now choose twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue David tonight: 2 And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak-handed, and will make him afraid; and all the people who are with him will flee, and I will strike the king only: 3 And I will bring back all the people to you: the man whom you seek is as if all returned: so all the people shall be in peace. 4 And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel. 5 Then Absalom said, Call Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear what he says likewise. 6 And when Hushai came to Absalom, Absalom spoke to him, saying, Ahithophel has spoken in this manner: shall we do as he says? If not, speak you. 7 And Hushai said to Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel has given is not good at this time. 8 For, said Hushai, you know your father and his men, that they are mighty men, and are angry in their minds, as a bear robbed of her cubs in the field: and your father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people. 9 Behold, he is hidden now in some pit, or in some other place: and it will come to pass, when some of them are overthrown at the first, that whoever hears it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom. 10 And he also who is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, will utterly melt: for all Israel knows that your father is a mighty man, and those who are with him are valiant men. 11 Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered to you, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that you go to battle in your own person. 12 So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will fall upon him as the dew falls on the ground, and of him and all the men that are with him, there shall not be left so much as one. 13 Moreover, if he has entered into a city, then all Israel shall bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there is not one small stone found there. 14 And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.
