Verse 21

If his sons are honored, he does not know it; if they are brought low, he does not see it.

Eccl 9:5 : 5 For the living know that they will die, but the dead do not know anything; they have no further reward– and even the memory of them disappears.
Isa 63:16 : 16 For you are our father, though Abraham does not know us and Israel does not recognize us. You, LORD, are our father; you have been called our protector from ancient times.
Isa 39:7-8 : 7 ‘Some of your very own descendants whom you father will be taken away and will be made eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’” 8 Hezekiah said to Isaiah,“The LORD’s message which you have announced is appropriate.” Then he thought,“For there will be peace and stability during my lifetime.”

Eccl 2:18-19 : 18 Futility of Being a Workaholic So I loathed all the fruit of my effort, for which I worked so hard on earth, because I must leave it behind in the hands of my successor. 19 Who knows if he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will be master over all the fruit of my labor for which I worked so wisely on earth! This also is futile!
