Only my servant Caleb, because he had a different spirit and has followed me fully– I will bring him into the land where he had gone, and his descendants will possess it.

Now look, I am today eighty-five years old. 11 Today I am still as strong as when Moses sent me out. I can fight and go about my daily activities with the same energy I had then. 12 Now, assign me this hill country which the LORD promised me at that time! No doubt you heard at that time that the Anakites live there in large, fortified cities. But, assuming the LORD is with me, I will conquer them, as the LORD promised.” 13 Joshua asked God to empower Caleb son of Jephunneh and assigned him Hebron. 14 So Hebron remains the assigned land of Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this very day because he remained loyal to the LORD God of Israel.

    14Caleb drove out from there three Anakites– Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, descendants of Anak.

  • 7Then Moses called out to Joshua in the presence of all Israel,“Be strong and courageous, for you will accompany these people to the land that the LORD promised to give their ancestors, and you will enable them to inherit it.

  • 12Caleb said,“To the man who attacks and captures Kiriath Sepher I will give my daughter Achsah as a wife.”

  • 22So I must die here in this land; I will not cross the Jordan. But you are going over and will possess that good land.

  • 28Commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, because he will lead these people over and will enable them to inherit the land you will see.”

  • 23For my angel will go before you and bring you to the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, and I will destroy them completely.

  • 21Look, he has placed the land in front of you! Go up, take possession of it, just as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, said to do. Do not be afraid or discouraged!”

  • 8Your fathers did the same thing when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to see the land.
