The word of the LORD came to me, saying:

Son of man, there were two women, daughters of the same mother.

De drev hor i Egypt, de var løsaktige allerede i sin ungdom. Der ble deres bryster klemt, og deres jomfrubarm presset.

They committed adultery in Egypt; in their youth, they acted unfaithfully. There, their breasts were fondled, and their virginity was violated.

Den ene het Ohola, den eldste, og den andre het Oholiba, hennes søster. De ble mine, og de fødte sønner og døtre. Navnene deres var Samaria for Ohola og Jerusalem for Oholiba.

Their names were Oholah, the elder, and Oholibah, her sister. They became mine and gave birth to sons and daughters. Their names represent Samaria as Oholah, and Jerusalem as Oholibah.

Men Ohola var utro mot meg mens hun tilhørte meg. Hun higet etter sine elskere, assyrerne, som bodde nær.

Oholah was unfaithful to me and lusted after her lovers—the Assyrians, who were near.

De var kledd i purpur, fyrster og herskere, alle unge menn å begjære, rytterfolk som red på hester.

They were clothed in blue, governors and officials, all of them young and desirable men, skilled horsemen riding on horses.

Hun lot seg besmitte av hele sin utroskap med dem, alle de utvalgte menn fra Assyria. Og hun ble uren ved deres avguder som hun elsket.

She gave herself to them, all the elite of the Assyrians, and defiled herself with all the idols she lusted after.

Hun ga ikke opp sine utroskap fra Egypt – for der hadde de ligget med henne i hennes ungdom, klemt hennes bryst og tømt sin begjær over henne.

She did not abandon the adulteries she began in Egypt, where men slept with her in her youth, fondling her virgin breasts and pouring out their lust upon her.

Derfor overga jeg henne i hendene på hennes elskere, assyrerne, som hun hadde begjært.

Therefore, I handed her over to her lovers, the Assyrians whom she lusted after.

They exposed her nakedness, seized her sons and daughters, and killed her with the sword. She became a byword among women, and they carried out judgment against her.

Her sister Oholibah saw this, yet she was even more corrupt in her lust, and her adulteries exceeded those of her sister.

She too lusted after the Assyrians—governors and officials nearby—elegantly clothed, skilled horsemen, and all young and desirable men.

I saw that she too was defiled; both had followed the same corrupt path.

Men hun fortsatte å drive hor. Hun så menn skåret i veggen, skikkelser av kaldeere innrisset i rødt.

But she went even further with her adulteries. She saw men carved on the walls, images of the Chaldeans portrayed in vermilion.

De hadde belter rundt livet og turbaner på hodet. De så ut som offiserer, skikkelser av babylonerne, født i Kaldea.

They were girded with belts at their waists, with flowing turbans on their heads. All of them looked like officers, resembling the men of Babylon, born in Chaldea.

Og da hun så dem, begynte hun å begjære dem og sendte menn til dem i Kaldea.

As soon as she saw them, she lusted after them and sent messengers to them in Chaldea.

Og babylonerne kom til henne i kjærlighetsakten og besmittet henne med sin utroskap. Etter at hun var blitt uren med dem, vendte hun seg bort fra dem.

Then the Babylonians came to her, to her bed of love, and defiled her with their lust. After she was defiled by them, she turned away from them in disgust.

Da hun åpenlyst viste sin utroskap og avdekket sin skam, ble jeg også frastøtt av henne slik jeg var blitt av hennes søster.

When she openly displayed her prostitution and exposed her nakedness, I turned away from her in disgust, just as I had turned away from her sister.

Men hun økte sine utroskap og husket dagene fra sin ungdom, da hun drev hor i Egypt.

Yet she increased her prostitution, remembering the days of her youth when she prostituted herself in the land of Egypt.

Hun begjærte sine elskere der, hvis kjøtt er som eslers kjøtt og hvis utflod er som hesters utflod.

She lusted after her lovers there, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.

Så vendte du tilbake til dine ungdomsdager, da egypterne tok tak i din barm og presset dine unge bryster.

So you revisited the lewdness of your youth, when the Egyptians fondled your breasts and caressed your young bosom.

Derfor, Oholiba, sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg vil reise opp dine elskere mot deg, de som du har vendt deg bort fra i avsky, og jeg vil føre dem mot deg fra alle kanter.

Therefore, Oholibah, this is what the Lord GOD says: 'I am about to stir up your lovers against you, those from whom you turned away in disgust, and I will bring them against you from every side—

Babylonerne og alle kaldeerne, Pekod, Shoa og Koa, og alle assyrerne med dem – unge menn, fyrster og herskere, offiserer og berømte menn, alle ridende på hester.

the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them, handsome young men, governors and commanders, chariot soldiers, and men of renown, all mounted on horses.

De skal komme mot deg med våpen, vogner og hjul, og med en stor forsamling av folk. De skal angripe deg med store skjold og hjelmer overalt. Jeg vil overlate dommen til dem, og de skal dømme deg etter sine lover.

They will come against you with weapons, chariots, and wagons, and with a vast army. They will take up shields, helmets, and armor against you on every side. I will hand you over to them for judgment, and they will punish you according to their laws.

Jeg vil la min brennende vrede gå over deg, og de skal handle med deg i raseri. De skal hogge av nesen og ørene dine, og de som blir igjen, skal falle for sverd. De skal ta sønnene og døtrene dine, og det som blir igjen av deg, skal fortæres av ild.

I will direct my jealous fury against you, and they will deal with you in anger. They will cut off your nose and ears, and your survivors will fall by the sword. They will take your sons and daughters, and those who remain will be consumed by fire.

They will strip you of your clothes and take your beautiful jewelry.

Jeg vil gjøre slutt på din utukt og din hor fra Egypt, så du ikke lenger skal vende blikket mot dem og aldri mer huske på Egypt.

So I will put an end to your lewdness and your prostitution, which you brought from the land of Egypt. You will not look longingly at them again or remember Egypt anymore.

For så sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg overgir deg i hendene på dem du hater, i hendene på dem du har vendt deg bort fra.

For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'I am about to deliver you into the hands of those you hate, into the hands of those you turned away from in disgust.'

De skal handle med deg i hat, ta alt det du har slitt for, og etterlate deg naken og utmattet, så din skam og din synd blir avslørt, sammen med din utukt og løsaktighet.

They will deal with you in hatred, take away all you have worked for, and leave you naked and bare. The shame of your prostitution will be exposed—your lewdness and promiscuity.

Dette skal skje med deg fordi du var utro mot folkeslagene og besmittet deg med deres stygge avguder.

These things will be done to you because you prostituted yourself to the nations, defiling yourself with their idols.

Du har gått i din søsters fotspor; derfor vil jeg gi deg hennes beger i din hånd.

You have followed in the path of your sister; therefore, I will put her cup into your hand.

Så sier Herren Gud: Du skal drikke din søsters beger, så dypt og bredt, det skal bli til latter og hån – begeret rommer mye.

This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'You will drink your sister’s cup, a cup deep and wide. It will bring scorn and ridicule, as it holds much to bear.'

Du skal fylles med drukkenskap og sorg, med begeret til din søster Samaria, et beger av gru og ødeleggelse.

It will be a cup filled with drunkenness and sorrow, a cup of horror and desolation, the cup of your sister Samaria.

Du skal drikke det og tømme det til bunns. Deretter skal du knuse dets skår og skrape opp brystet ditt. For jeg, Herren Gud, har talt.

You will drink it and drain it dry, and then gnaw on its broken pieces and tear your breasts. For I have spoken, declares the Sovereign LORD.

Derfor sier Herren Gud: Fordi du har glemt meg og kastet meg bak ryggen din, så bær nå din synd og din utukt.

Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'Because you have forgotten me and thrust me behind your back, you must also bear the consequences of your lewdness and prostitution.'

Herren sa til meg: Menneskesønn, vil du dømme Ohola og Oholiba? Fortell dem om deres avskyelige gjerninger.

The LORD said to me: 'Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then confront them with their abominations.'

For de har begått hor, og blod er på deres hender. De har begått hor med sine avguder, og til og med deres egne sønner, som de har født til meg, har de ofret til avgudene for mat.

For they have committed adultery and blood is on their hands. They committed adultery with their idols; they even sacrificed their children, whom they bore to me, passing them through the fire as food for their idols.

Dessuten har de gjort dette til meg: De har gjort mitt helligdom urent på den samme dagen og vanhelliget mine sabbater.

They have also done this to me: On the same day they defiled my sanctuary and desecrated my Sabbaths.

Samme dag som de slaktet sine sønner for sine avguder, kom de også til min helligdom for å vanhellige den. Se, slik har de gjort midt i mitt hus.

When they slaughtered their children as sacrifices to their idols, they came to my sanctuary on the same day to desecrate it. See, this is what they have done in my house.

De sendte til og med bud etter menn som kom langveisfra. Da disse kom, vasket du deg, malte øynene dine og smykket deg med pynt.

Furthermore, they sent for men from far away, messengers were dispatched to them, and they came. You bathed yourself, painted your eyes, and adorned yourself with jewelry.

Du satte deg på en herlig seng, og foran deg var et bord som var gjort i stand. Mitt røkelse og min olje satte du der.

You sat on a glorious couch with a table prepared before it, where you placed my incense and my oil.

En høyrøstet mengde var der i feststemning, og sammen med vanlige mennesker ble også fulle menn fra ørkenen brakt inn. De satte armbånd på deres hender og kroner av prakt på deres hoder.

The sound of a carefree crowd was with her, and drunkards were brought from the desert. They put bracelets on their wrists and beautiful crowns on their heads.

Then I said about the one worn out by adultery, ‘Now they will continue their acts of fornication with her.’

They went to her as men go to a prostitute. In the same way, they went to Oholah and Oholibah, the immoral women.

Men rettferdige menn vil dømme dem som kvinner som har begått hor og spilt ut blod, for de er horer, og blod er på deres hender.

But righteous men will judge them for committing adultery and shedding blood, because they are adulteresses, and blood is on their hands.

For så sier Herren Gud: Før en forsamling mot dem og overgi dem til å bli et skremsel og til plyndring.

For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: ‘Bring a great assembly against them and hand them over to terror and plunder.'

Forsamlingen skal steine dem og hugge dem ned med sverdene sine. De skal drepe deres sønner og døtre og brenne husene deres med ild.

They will stone them and cut them down with their swords. They will kill their sons and daughters and burn down their houses with fire.

På denne måten vil jeg gjøre slutt på utukt i landet, slik at alle kvinner skal la seg advare og ikke gjøre som de gjør.

So I will put an end to lewdness in the land, so that all women may be warned and refrain from imitating your immoral ways.

De skal bære skylden for sitt hor, og de skal bære straffen for sine avguder. Da skal dere kjenne at jeg er Herren Gud.

You will bear the punishment for your lewdness and the sins of your idols. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.
