At that time my anger will erupt against them and I will abandon them and hide my face from them until they are devoured. Many disasters and distresses will overcome them so that they will say at that time,‘Have not these disasters overcome us because our God is not among us?’

    10The Lord Promises Exile(But Also Restoration)“When you tell these people about all this, they will undoubtedly ask you,‘Why has the LORD threatened us with such great disaster? What wrong have we done? What sin have we done to offend the LORD our God?’

    11Then tell them that the LORD says,‘It is because your ancestors rejected me and paid allegiance to other gods. They have served them and worshiped them. But they have rejected me and not obeyed my law.

  • 11The Punishment from God The LORD said to Moses,“How long will this people despise me, and how long will they not believe in me, in spite of the signs that I have done among them?

  • 24and my anger will burn and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives will be widows and your children will be fatherless.

  • 8But they rebelled against me, and refused to listen to me; no one got rid of their detestable idols, nor did they abandon the idols of Egypt. Then I decided to pour out my rage on them and fully vent my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

  • 6The Futility of Sacrificial Ritual without Moral Obedience Although they bring their flocks and herds to seek the favor of the LORD, They will not find him– he has withdrawn himself from them!

    14I will abandon this last remaining tribe among my people and hand them over to their enemies; they will be plundered and robbed by all their enemies,

    15because they have done evil in my sight and have angered me from the time their ancestors left Egypt right up to this very day!’”

  • 21“‘But the children rebelled against me, did not follow my statutes, did not observe my regulations by carrying them out(the one who obeys them will live by them), and desecrated my Sabbaths. I decided to pour out my rage on them and fully vent my anger against them in the wilderness.

  • 16If you violate the covenantal laws of the LORD your God which he commanded you to keep, and follow, worship, and bow down to other gods, the LORD will be very angry with you and you will disappear quickly from the good land which he gave to you.”

  • 17I will set my face against you. You will be struck down before your enemies, those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee when there is no one pursuing you.
