Lytt til meg, dere som jager etter rettferdighet, dere som søker Herren: se til klippen dere er hugget fra, og til gropen dere er gravd ut fra.

Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.

Se til Abraham, deres far, og til Sara, som fødte dere: for jeg kalte ham alene, velsignet ham og økte antallet hans.

Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.

For Herren skal trøste Sion: han vil trøste alle hennes ødelagte steder; og han vil gjøre hennes ødemarker lik Eden, og hennes ørken lik Herrens hage; glede og fryd skal finnes der, takk og melodiens røst.

For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

Hør på meg, mitt folk; lytt til meg, mitt folk: for en lov skal utgå fra meg, og jeg vil etablere min rett for lyset av folket.

Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.

Min rettferdighet er nær; min frelse er kommet, og mine armer skal dømme folket; øyene skal vente på meg, og på min arm skal de stole.

My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.

Løft blikket mot himmelen og se på jorden nedenunder: for himlene skal forsvinne som røyk, og jorden skal eldes som et klesplagg, og de som bor der skal dø på samme måte: men min frelse skal være for evig, og min rettferdighet skal ikke bli avskaffet.

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

Hør på meg, dere som kjenner rettferdighet, folket i hvis hjerte min lov er; frykt ikke menneskers forakt, og bli ikke redde for deres spott.

Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.

For møll skal fortære dem som et klesplagg, og mark skal spise dem som ull: men min rettferdighet skal være for evig, og min frelse fra generasjon til generasjon.

For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation.

Våkn opp, våkn opp, ta kraft på deg, Herrens arm; våkn opp, som i gamle dager, i eldgamle generasjoner. Er det ikke du som har hogd Rahab og såret dragen?

Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon?

Er det ikke du som har tørket ut havet, vannet i dypet, som har gjort havets dybder til en vei for dem som er frikjøpt å gå over?

Art thou not it which hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?

Derfor skal Herrens forløste vende tilbake, og komme med sang til Sion; og evig glede skal være over deres hoder: de skal oppnå glede og fryd, og sorg og klage skal flykte bort.

Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.

Jeg, ja, jeg er den som trøster deg: hvem er du som frykter mennesker som skal dø, og menneskesønnen som skal bli som gress?

I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;

Og glemmer Herren din skaper, som har spent ut himlene, og lagt jordens grunnvoller; og har fryktet hver dag for undertrykkerens vrede, som om han var klar til å ødelegge? Og hvor er undertrykkerens vrede?

And forgettest the LORD thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor?

Den fangne flyktning skynder seg å bli løslatt, og at han ikke skal dø i gropen, og at hans brød ikke skal svikte.

The captive exile hasteneth that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail.

Men jeg er Herren din Gud, som delte havet, hvis bølger brølte: Herren, hærskarenes Gud, er hans navn.

But I am the LORD thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: The LORD of hosts is his name.

Og jeg har lagt mine ord i din munn, og jeg har skjult deg i skyggen av min hånd, for at jeg skal plante himlene og legge jordens grunnvoller, og si til Sion: Du er mitt folk.

And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.

Våkn opp, våkn opp, reis deg, Jerusalem, som har drukket fra Herrens hånd vredens beger; du har drukket ut grumset av skjelvings beger, og tømt det.

Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the LORD the cup of his fury; thou hast drunken the dregs of the cup of trembling, and wrung them out.

Det er ingen til å lede henne blant alle sønnene hun har født; heller ikke er det noen som tar henne ved hånden av alle sønnene hun har oppdratt.

There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she hath brought forth; neither is there any that taketh her by the hand of all the sons that she hath brought up.

Disse to ting har kommet over deg; hvem skal ha medlidenhet med deg? Ødeleggelse og ruin, og hungersnød, og sverd: hvem skal trøste deg?

These two things are come unto thee; who shall be sorry for thee? desolation, and destruction, and the famine, and the sword: by whom shall I comfort thee?

Dine sønner har besvimt, de ligger ved alle gatehjørner, som en vill okse i et nett: de er full av Herrens vrede, av din Guds refselse.

Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as a wild bull in a net: they are full of the fury of the LORD, the rebuke of thy God.

Hør derfor dette, du plaget og drukne, men ikke av vin:

Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine:

Så sier Herren din Gud, din Herre, som kjemper for sitt folks sak: Se, jeg har tatt fra din hånd skjelvings beger, ja, bunnfallet av mitt vredes beger; du skal ikke drikke det igjen.

Thus saith thy Lord the LORD, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:

Men jeg vil gi det til dem som plager deg; de som har sagt til din sjel: Bøy deg ned, så vi kan gå over; og du har lagt din kropp som bakken og som gaten, for dem som gikk over.

But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; which have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy body as the ground, and as the street, to them that went over.
