- Ezek 23:3-9 : 3 And they committed harlotry in Egypt; they committed harlotry in their youth: there their breasts were pressed, and there they bruised the nipples of their virginity. 4 And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bore sons and daughters. Thus were their names: Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah. 5 And Aholah played the harlot while she was mine; and she lusted after her lovers, after the Assyrians her neighbors, 6 Who were clothed with blue, captains and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding upon horses. 7 Thus she committed her harlotries with them, with all the choice men of Assyria, and with all on whom she lusted: with all their idols she defiled herself. 8 She did not leave her harlotries brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, and poured their harlotry upon her. 9 Therefore I delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, upon whom she lusted. 10 They uncovered her nakedness: they took her sons and her daughters, and killed her with the sword: and she became notorious among women; for they had executed judgment upon her. 11 And when her sister Aholibah saw this, she was more corrupt in her lust than she, and in her harlotries more than her sister in her harlotries. 12 She lusted upon the Assyrians her neighbors, captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men. 13 Then I saw that she was defiled, that they both followed the same way, 14 And that she increased her harlotries: for when she saw men portrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with vermilion, 15 Girded with sashes upon their loins, excellently attired upon their heads, all of them looking like princes, after the manner of the Babylonians of Chaldea, the land of their nativity: 16 And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she lusted upon them, and sent messengers to them into Chaldea. 17 And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their harlotry, and she was polluted with them, and her mind was alienated from them. 18 So she uncovered her harlotries, and uncovered her nakedness: then my mind was alienated from her, just as my mind was alienated from her sister. 19 Yet she multiplied her harlotries, in calling to remembrance the days of her youth, when she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt. 20 For she lusted after their lovers, whose flesh is like the flesh of donkeys, and whose issue is like the issue of horses. 21 Thus you called to remembrance the lewdness of your youth, in bruising your breasts by the Egyptians for the pleasures of your youth. 22 Therefore, O Aholibah, thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will raise up your lovers against you, from whom your mind is alienated, and I will bring them against you on every side; 23 The Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of them desirable young men, captains and rulers, great lords and renowned, all of them riding upon horses. 24 And they shall come against you with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against you buckler and shield and helmet all around: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge you according to their judgments. 25 And I will set my jealousy against you, and they shall deal furiously with you: they shall take away your nose and your ears; and your remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take your sons and your daughters; and your residue shall be devoured by the fire. 26 They shall also strip you of your clothes, and take away your fine jewels. 27 Thus will I make your lewdness cease from you, and your harlotry brought from the land of Egypt: so that you shall not lift up your eyes to them, nor remember Egypt any more. 28 For thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver you into the hand of those you hate, into the hand of those from whom your mind is alienated: 29 And they shall deal with you hatefully, and shall take away all your labor, and shall leave you naked and bare: and the nakedness of your harlotries shall be uncovered, both your lewdness and your harlotries. 30 I will do these things to you, because you have gone a whoring after the heathen, and because you are polluted with their idols. 31 You have walked in the way of your sister; therefore will I give her cup into your hand. 32 Thus says the Lord GOD; You shall drink of your sister's cup, deep and large: you shall be laughed to scorn and held in derision; it contains much. 33 You shall be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of your sister Samaria. 34 You shall even drink it and drain it out, and you shall break its shards, and pluck off your own breasts: for I have spoken it, says the Lord GOD. 35 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Because you have forgotten me, and cast me behind your back, therefore you shall also bear your lewdness and your harlotries. 36 The LORD said moreover to me; Son of man, will you judge Aholah and Aholibah? Yes, declare to them their abominations; 37 That they have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bore to me, to pass through the fire, to devour them. 38 Moreover this they have done to me: they have defiled my sanctuary on the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths. 39 For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, behold, thus have they done in the midst of my house.

- Jer 36:21-26 : 21 So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the scroll; and he took it out of Elishama the scribe's chamber. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes who stood beside the king. 22 Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month, and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him. 23 And it happened, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth. 24 Yet they were not afraid, nor did they tear their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words. 25 Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had pleaded with the king that he would not burn the scroll, but he would not hear them. 26 But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet, but the LORD hid them.
- Ezek 20:8 : 8 But they rebelled against me, and would not listen to me: they did not cast away every man the abominations of their eyes, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
- Ezek 20:13 : 13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they did not walk in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man does, he shall even live in them; and they greatly polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.
- Ezek 20:21 : 21 Nevertheless the children rebelled against me: they did not walk in my statutes, nor kept my judgments to do them, which if a man does, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.
- Ezek 20:28 : 28 For when I had brought them into the land, for which I lifted up my hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provoking of their offering: there also they made their sweet savor, and poured out there their drink offerings.

- Deut 31:27 : 27 For I know your rebellion, and your stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, you have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?
- Deut 32:15-20 : 15 But Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked: you have grown fat, you have grown thick, you are covered with fatness; then he forsook God who made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. 16 They provoked him to jealousy with foreign gods, with abominations they provoked him to anger. 17 They sacrificed to demons, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not. 18 Of the Rock that begot you, you are unmindful, and have forgotten God who formed you. 19 And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. 20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very perverse generation, children in whom there is no faith.
- Judg 2:11-19 : 11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim: 12 And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, the gods of the people that were around them, and bowed themselves to them, and provoked the LORD to anger. 13 And they forsook the LORD and served Baal and Ashtaroth. 14 And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of plunderers who plundered them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies. 15 Wherever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for harm, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn to them: and they were greatly distressed. 16 Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, who delivered them out of the hand of those who plundered them. 17 Yet they would not listen to their judges, but they went whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves to them: they quickly turned out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; they did not do so. 18 And when the LORD raised up judges for them, the LORD was with the judge and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings due to those who oppressed them and vexed them. 19 And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them and to bow down to them; they did not cease from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.

- 2 Chr 36:16-17 : 16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, until there was no remedy. 17 Therefore, he brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or young woman, old man, or aged; he gave them all into his hand.
- Neh 9:16-37 : 16 But they and our forefathers acted proudly, hardened their necks, and did not heed Your commandments. 17 They refused to obey, and were not mindful of Your wonders that You did among them. But they hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a leader to return to their bondage. But You are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in kindness, and did not forsake them. 18 Even when they made a molten calf for themselves, and said, 'This is your God that brought you up out of Egypt,' and committed great provocations, 19 Yet in Your overwhelming mercies, You did not forsake them in the wilderness; the pillar of cloud did not depart from them by day to lead them on the way, nor the pillar of fire by night to show them light and the way they should go. 20 You also gave Your good Spirit to instruct them, and did not withhold Your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst. 21 For forty years You sustained them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell. 22 Moreover, You gave them kingdoms and nations, and divided them into districts: So they possessed the land of Sihon, the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan. 23 You also multiplied their children as the stars of heaven, and brought them into the land which You had promised to their forefathers they would enter and possess. 24 So the children entered and possessed the land; You subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gave them into their hands, with their kings and the people of the land, so that they might do with them as they wished. 25 And they captured fortified cities and a fertile land, and took possession of houses full of all goods, wells already dug, vineyards, olive groves, and fruit trees in abundance. So they ate and were filled and became fat, and delighted themselves in Your great goodness. 26 Nevertheless, they were disobedient and rebelled against You, cast Your law behind their backs, and killed Your prophets who testified against them, to turn them back to You, and they performed great provocations. 27 Therefore You delivered them into the hand of their enemies, who oppressed them. And in the time of their trouble, when they cried to You, You heard from heaven; and according to Your manifold mercies, You gave them deliverers who saved them from the hand of their enemies. 28 But after they had rest, they did evil again before You; therefore You abandoned them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had dominion over them. Yet when they returned and cried out to You, You heard from heaven, and many times delivered them according to Your mercies. 29 You testified against them, that You might bring them back to Your law. Yet they acted proudly and did not heed Your commandments but sinned against Your judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them. And they shrugged their shoulders, stiffened their necks, and would not hear. 30 Yet for many years You had patience with them and testified against them by Your Spirit in Your prophets. Yet they would not give ear; therefore, You gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands. 31 Nevertheless, in Your great mercies, You did not utterly consume them nor forsake them; for You are a gracious and merciful God. 32 Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who keeps covenant and mercy, do not let all the hardship seem little before You that has come upon us, our kings, our princes, our priests, our prophets, our forefathers, and all Your people, from the days of the kings of Assyria until this day. 33 However, You are just in all that has come upon us; for You have done right, but we have acted wickedly. 34 Neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our forefathers kept Your law, nor heeded Your commandments and Your testimonies, which You testified against them. 35 For they have not served You in their kingdom, or in the vast and fertile land that You gave them, nor did they turn from their wicked works. 36 Here we are, servants today! And the land that You gave to our forefathers to eat its fruit and its bounty, here we are, servants in it. 37 And it yields much increase to the kings You have set over us because of our sins; also, they have dominion over our bodies and our cattle at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.
- Ps 106:6-9 : 6 We have sinned with our ancestors, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly. 7 Our ancestors did not understand your wonders in Egypt; they did not remember the multitude of your mercies, but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red Sea. 8 Nevertheless, he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power known. 9 He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up; so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness. 10 And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. 11 And the waters covered their enemies; there was not one of them left. 12 Then they believed his words; they sang his praise. 13 They soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel. 14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert. 15 And he gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul. 16 They also envied Moses in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD. 17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram. 18 And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked. 19 They made a calf in Horeb, and worshiped the molten image. 20 Thus they changed their glory into the likeness of an ox that eats grass. 21 They forgot God their savior, who had done great things in Egypt; 22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome things by the Red Sea. 23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them. 24 Yes, they despised the pleasant land, they did not believe his word. 25 But murmured in their tents, and did not listen to the voice of the LORD. 26 Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness. 27 To overthrow their descendants also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands. 28 They joined themselves also to Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead. 29 Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions, and the plague broke out among them. 30 Then Phinehas stood up and executed judgment, and so the plague was stopped. 31 And that was accounted unto him for righteousness unto all generations forevermore. 32 They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went badly with Moses for their sakes; 33 Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spoke rashly with his lips. 34 They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD had commanded them. 35 But they were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works. 36 And they served their idols, which were a snare to them. 37 Yes, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons, 38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was polluted with blood. 39 Thus they were defiled with their own works, and played the harlot with their own inventions. 40 Therefore the wrath of the LORD was kindled against his people, so much so that he abhorred his own inheritance. 41 And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and those who hated them ruled over them. 42 Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand. 43 Many times he delivered them, but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity. 44 Nevertheless, he regarded their affliction when he heard their cry. 45 And he remembered for them his covenant, and relented according to the multitude of his mercies. 46 He made those who carried them captives to pity them. 47 Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks to your holy name, and to triumph in your praise. 48 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting; and let all the people say, Amen. Praise the LORD.
